Addy Canché Cámara was born in Tulum in 1964 and grew up on her father’s coconut ranch by the beach near what is now Playa Paraíso. Her parents were part of the generation that helped repopulate the town, when it was still mostly bush with only a few houses. Her family welcomed early visitors who slept in hammocks by the sea and shared meals made from their own milpa.
